Fan Girl Favorite: Ramen

Hi everyone! And welcome to this week’s Fan Girl Favorite! Today I will be talking about the food that is not only almost every college kid and otakus favorite to eat, but a certain anime Ninja adores this food as well. That’s right, I’m talking about Ramen! So let’s get started, shall we?

We all know that ramen comes from Japan, but do we know how exactly it became so popular overseas and among your average day person? It’s actually quite simple and very interesting. The very first whispers of ramen actually came from China. Yep, you read that right y’all. It originated from their wheat noodles! It’s funny how something so delicious can come from the most unexpected things am I right?

It was translated into thinly cut cheap noodles that were put to various broths in Japan. This was mainly done during the World Wars when many people were struggling just to get by. But because of this, Ramen’s popularity steadily grew, making it into the delicious dish we know and love today.

The instant part of Ramen though didn’t show up until around the eighties/nineties when, you guessed it, anime started taking off and Ramen even started to get cartoon mascots! But what makes the Instant Ramen that a lot of us are familiar with popular—aside from its obvious advertisement in many of the shows we love, Instant Ramen is a perfect food to have when disaster strikes. For example natural disasters. If your power were to go out or heck if you found yourself lost somewhere with not much aside from some Instant Ramen and a water bottle, you have yourself a food supply! That’s also a major reason why college students, such as myself covet the delicious noodle dish. It’s easy to get a hold of and even easier to make! It works beautifully when you’re on a budget or if you just need some awesome food to binge-watch anime with.

I know some of my favorite flavors are more than likely the Beef, Soy Sauce, or Shrimp. Or if I’m lucky enough to have Ramen at a restaurant I will always get it in the Udon broth. Just something about the flavors of all of these different Ramen is just so satisfying.

All in all, in my opinion, you just can’t go wrong with an amazing bowl of ramen. Whether it be from a restaurant or just an instant package. Ramen is amazing.

Well, that’s all for this Fangirl Favorite! I hope you guys enjoyed it! Stay tuned for the next article!
