Rebellious Reveiws: Encanto

Can I just start this off by saying Mi Encanta Encanto? (I love Encanto). This has to be one of my absolute favorite Disney movies so far. They really hit it out of the park this time! So, let’s see exactly why I think that eh?

Story:

Wow, what can I say except this has so many allusions to real-life situations in families that are so incredibly relatable, yet so heartfelt. I felt these situations because I’m half Latina. My family is amazing but it’s undeniable that we all feel things like not being good enough or just having too many expectations. But, in the end, you realize just how special you are and that no matter how much your family seems to bend and break, you’ll find a way to mend those cracks so to speak. And Encanto did an absolutely phenomenal job portraying all of this.

Score: 10/10

Characters:

As I said in the Story section, it’s incredibly relatable. I believe that most can find a character that they can individually relate to in some way or another. Maybe it’s Bruno and the burden of his visions, or Luisa and how much she carries both physically and mentally to protect her family, or it could be Isabella who feels like no matter what she has to be the perfect little princess when all she wants is to break from that and explore new things. Or hell, it could even be Maribel! How she has no gift but finds her own way to be special and find her own way to fit in even though she’s faced with so many challenges and roadblocks. I know I personally relate to her.

Score: 10/10

Music:

Oh. My. God. As someone who absolutely adores Zumba and Latin music, this is the most perfect soundtrack for a movie. Each song I wanted to get up and just dance to every one of them. From “We Don’t Talk About Bruno.” to Luisa’s “I’m The Strong One.” Each song is just so powerful with its own meaning behind each one of them and the character development they give is absolutely phenomenal!

Score: 10/10

Fangirl Thoughts:

Rebellious Reviews! ~ Venom: There Will Be Carnage

Ohhh boy, do I have a review for you guys today. On Halloween of all days, I went to see the newest movie Venom: There Will Be Carnage, and let me tell you, my friends, this is gonna be one helluva review. There’s so much to cover in this and I’ll do my best to not include spoilers since the movie is still so new. So, without further ado…Let us begin!

Story:

Alrighty, So let’s try to get through this without spoiling anything for you guys since this is still a fairly new-ish movie. Where do I start? From the growing relationship between Venom and Eddie, to how Carnage comes around, you are really never bored with this movie and you’re on the edge of your seat at nearly every moment. Not to mention Venom himself is constantly hilarious, there was more than one time I was doubled over in my seat laughing.

The way they weave the story of how Carnage comes to be is really intriguing and fits it so well. Albeit it does have its gross parts—but really, it wouldn’t be a Venom movie without the occasional grossness. Especially if you guys remember the first movie.

The only thing I was confused at was when Venom sees Carnage for the first time, he says and I quote “Oh shit, that’s a red one.” And he absolutely refused to come out of Eddie he even wanted Eddie to just leave—even though it would be detrimental to quite a few characters. That kind of line and Venom’s actions intrigued me a lot I thought it would lead to some extra cool info about Venom. But, through the whole fight and even afterward, Venom does not explain why a “red one” is so bad. That’s probably my only complaint in the whole movie.

Score: 9/10

Characters:

Pretty sure it’s going to be pretty obvious of the high marks this category will be getting. First off we have Venom. I absolutely love how they went more into his personality in this movie. We could really get to know Venom more and it was hilarious hearing each line that he delivered. Then we have Carnage. Venom’s exact opposite in every way. I still won’t disclose how Carnage comes along because of spoilers, but my god, if we thought Riot was bad in the first movie he doesn’t have anything on Carnage. Carnage has absolutely no moral compass and literally only cares about two things: Killing Venom and causing as much destruction as possible.

Lastly, we have our regular characters Eddie, Anne, Ms. Chow, and Dan. None of them really changed but they all had really good parts to play in this movie. Eddie the most, since he and Venom are connected.

Score: 10/10

Graphics:

It was a live-action so of course not really big on graphics, but the way Venom and Carnage looked and the way they choreographed the fight scenes were phenomenal. It was one of the many reasons I thoroughly enjoyed this movie.

Score: 10/10

Fangirl level:

Venom being Venom?

Check.

Bad-ass fight scenes?

Check.

Plenty of info to theorize and speculate things about the future for the Marvel Universe?

Check.

Score: 10/10

Final Score: 39/40

Well, that’s that for this review! How’d I do you guys? Do you agree with my final consensus, or is there something you think deserved more or fewer points? I’d love to hear your opinions!

Rebellious Review ~ Suicide Squad 2

Hey guys! Welcome to this week’s Rebellious Review! This time I’m going to be reviewing the new movie: Suicide Squad 2! It was a hell of a movie that’s for sure. So let me tell you this is going to be one interesting review! Let’s get started, shall we?

Graphics

The way they showed the different plans or what they were planning to do was really unique.  For example, they said that it was made by Warner Brothers through a fire happening on the ground. It’s really something how they do their transitions from scene to scene. They use what I like to call, time jumps. For example, the use of “Meanwhile” or “eight minutes before”. Lastly, the fight scenes. They are…something else. I won’t spoil anything but if you have a weak stomach, good luck.

Score: 10/10

Story

It started out a little slow, and over comical, but it quickly got better. I loved the first movie and its characters. But even though we didn’t get to see practically all of the old cast, we got to see Harley. And something I quite enjoyed about this is how much her character has grown. Also, the enemies the new squad had to go up against, in my opinion, are much harder to deal with than what the old squad went up against. It was merely child’s play compared to what we get to see in the second movie.

Score: 9/10

Characters

Jesus these people are nuts. Well, it is the Suicide Squad after all. From Harley to a certain man shark, and not to mention my girl Rat Catcher 2. And a very creepy…weasel. You’ll know what I mean when you see him. The whole mess of characters they give us is really something else. Plus, we actually get to see some back story, and you guys know I love a good back story. The only thing I have a sore spot to is that some of the characters I grew attached to end up kicking the bucket. I won’t say who it is though—no spoilers my friends!

Score: 10/10

Fangirl Thoughts

  • Bloody as all holy hell? Check.
  • Get to see at least one of the characters from the first movie? Check.
  • Great and thrilling storyline? Check.

Score: 10/10

Total Score: 39/40

Welp, that’s it for this Rebellious Review! What did you guys think? Agree with it? Or do you think some categories should have a different score? I’d love to hear your thoughts!
